Zach & Kathleen Habersang
Full-Time Missionaries Serving With Valor
A Cru Ministry Reaching Cadets, Midshipmen, & Veterans with the Gospel
Our Story
Zach and Kathleen Habersang are full-time missionaries with Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ). They will be serving with Cru's Valor ministry that reaches cadets, midshipmen, and veterans with the Gospel. Their assignment is to reach the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX.
Zach and Kathleen met in the Fall of 2015 when Zach was a seminary student and Kathleen was in nursing school. They hit it off right away when Zach told Kathleen about his time at Texas A&M in the Corps of Cadets (Class of 2013). Kathleen's father was a member of the Corps of Cadets '84 and she loves everything Aggie. More importantly though, they both shared a deep desire to live their lives wholly and completely to the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. After getting married in February 2017, they moved to Harlingen at the southern tip of Texas. Zach became the Chaplain at the Marine Military Academy (a military boarding school), and Kathleen worked as a registered nurse at a nearby hospital, while also supporting Zach's Gospel ministry at the academy. In April 2019, Zach and Kathleen were blessed with a baby boy—Joshua. After three years reaching high school cadets at the Marine Military Academy with the Gospel, Zach and Kathleen are excited to join Cru's Valor ministry—a ministry fully dedicated to the evangelism and discipleship of college cadets all across the nation and the world who are training to become future military leaders.

ZACH'S CALL TO VALOR
Zach graduated from Texas A&M University and was a member of the Corps of Cadets (Class of 2013). During his sophomore year at Texas A&M, Zach came to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. He was discipled and served the Lord with Cru's Valor ministry at A&M. As a senior cadet, he joined four other cadets with Valor on a short term mission trip to Panama where he learned to share the Gospel. Zach's passion became learning the Bible, leading people to Christ, and teaching them to grow in their Christian walk.
In his final year at Texas A&M, Zach co-led a Bible study with the Valor staff. It was in this time that Zach was sensing God's call to full-time ministry. The Lord confirmed his calling by opening the door for him to attend seminary. During his time at seminary, God provided Zach with an opportunity to intern for three years at a church in Fort Worth where he gained a wide variety of ministry experience.
After graduating seminary in May 2017, the Lord opened the door for Zach to minister to cadets as Chaplain of the Marine Military Academy. Zach was blessed with the opportunity to preach the Gospel to hundreds of Marine Corps JROTC cadets from all across the United States and the world.
In August 2019, Zach called a friend who was Valor staff at Texas A&M. Zach asked him how the ministry was going with Valor and their need for laborers. He was told that their ministry has been praying for laborers. This brought to mind Matthew 9:37 where Jesus spoke to His disciples about the harvest being plentiful but the laborers few.
Zach's heart responded like in Isaiah 6:8 where the Lord ask who will go and Isaiah boldly proclaims: Send me! Sensing God's calling, Zach applied with Cru and was accepted as a full-time missionary serving with their Valor ministry. He is excited to be a part of the Valor ministry in reaching future military leaders and honored to serve with Cru.
KATHLEEN'S CALL TO VALOR
Throughout Kathleen's growing up years, her parents read and discussed the Bible and many missionary biographies as a family. Kathleen began to develop a personal relationship with God when she was 15 years old. During her teen and early adult years, she taught in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and Good News Club, as well as led a girls' Bible study group and served in various other ways at her church.
At age 18, she felt an increased and intense desire to dedicate her life for ministry. This occurred while she was preparing to perform Elisabeth Elliot in a drama about five missionaries who gave their lives in order to show God's love to a lost and isolated people group in Ecuador. God used these testimonies, as well as those of Jesus Christ and the early church, to spark and fuel in Kathleen a burning desire to grow in radical faith, unselfish love, and bold evangelism.
Since then, God has led Kathleen to serve Him as a wife, mother and nurse. For the past three years, she has been able to minister to cadets and faculty at the Marine Military Academy alongside her husband. At this time, God is transitioning Zach from chaplain at MMA, to ministry through Cru. After seeking God in prayer and in His Word, Kathleen has sensed God calling her to join her husband in full time ministry. Excited to pursue ministry with Cru as a team, Kathleen and Zach look forward to continue reaching people for Jesus Christ.
OUR VISION
We will be part of a team that is ministering to the students in the Corps of Cadets on the campus of Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. The Corps at A&M has 2300+ cadets and commissions more officers than any other school excluding the service academies. We look forward to being Gospel laborers on this mission field!
Our goal is to see 10% of all newly commissioned officers equipped to Win/Build/Send throughout their entire military career. Imagine a generation of military leaders who place deep faith in Christ and allow Him to train them through His Word and Spirit! Imagine the impact of the gospel on the military if 1 out of 10 officers can network the love of Christ! Zach is excited about seeing college cadets come to Christ as he did at Texas A&M University. He looks forward to investing in the lives of future military officers and developing them to be faithful followers, soul winners, and disciple makers of Jesus Christ. Kathleen is excited to invest in the women who are training for miltiary service. Together, the Lord has blessed Zach and Kathleen with equipping and desire to work together as a ministry team that reaches many men and women with the Gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
